Gonfiantini Palace

Along Castello's street, one of the quietest and exclusive street of the town, rise up the Gonfiantini Palace. The building belongs to the XII th Century and is composed by 4 levels, in witch our Restaurant occupies the ground-floor, the cellar and the basement. On the XVI th Century the Buildings belongs to Chiarenti's family; than to the Vecchi's till the begins of the last Century; in the first part of the XX Century Berti's family find out medieval elements by the Renaissance courtyard; today the Building belongs to the Gonfiantini's family. Our Enotaca was inaugurated on 1988 and the Restaurant on 1992.

 
 

 

Entrance hall:

From the moment chariots and horses were no more used to move from the country residence to the Palace, the large access on the front wall was closed and was realised the today's entrance with green-sand manufactured products and ledges in Serena's Stones.

Courtyard:

It belongs to the XIV th Century and it was modified on the XVI th Century with Renaissance elements. Inside there is the ancient well used to pick up rainwater. The medieval wooden structure of the portico were replaced by more consistent columns.

Garden:

It looks to the Val d'Elsa Valley and when the weather is clear it is possible to see the Montagnola senese relieves, the ancient district of Colle val d'Elsa, the town of Castellina in Chianti and all the other wonderful jewels set among forest and vineyard fields.

 

 
 
 
 
 

 

 

 

Cellar:

It's completely excavated on the Pliocene lime-stones. It was used to preserve the agricultural products coming from the ownership of the country. Now holds the private collection of the best years of Brunello, Chianti Classico and Barolo.

Limonaia:

It was used to lay lemon trees on the winter time.

Restaurant saloon:

It is used to receive group at lunch dinner and for wine-tasting.
